The Macclesfield Creative Writing Group was created by Joy Winkler in April 2011. ‘The group is diverse in writing style and ability and strong on commitment and support,’ says Joy, who first conceived the idea with librarian Janet Judge.
Meeting in Macclesfield Library, every Thursday from 2pm until 4pm, the writers are able to offer criticism to their fellow writers, and you really feel you’re getting honest feedback.
Our members have had great success with their work. Margaret Holbrook has had her work in numerous publications across the UK and her first two anthologies are available to purchase. Jean Warham’s book of local walks in east Cheshire was released in 2013 and has been nothing short of a success.
As we are a not-for-profit group, there are some fees. This money goes towards paying the rent, and so that we are able to have writers visit us. We do, however, offer the first session for free. Every subsequent session costs £3.00 per member. There are no concessions.
